So you just broke up with your “boo” and you are trying to keep it broken, for good this time. Here’s a not-to-do list:
Don’t keep texting
It used to be your daily routine, but your phone is more like Pandora’s Box. Don’t send that text. You’ll open the gates of hell and wreak havoc on yourself. Curiosity may have killed the cat, but your ass will be pretty damn close if you hit that send button. Don’t even keep their number in your phone. Talking may be okay if you ended on good terms, but is it worth the risk?
Don’t hang out with their friends
Get your own friends. The last thing you need is an overdramatic ex making people choose between you and them. Don’t give them that power. You have to cut off all ties with people who have known them since they were in diapers, otherwise they end up being spies letting your ex know everything you do, who you’re seeing, and if you still miss them.
Don’t keep them on Facebook
How would you feel if your ex was creepily scouring your photo albums, saving pictures and showing their friends? In today’s age of social media, it’s more of a reality than a possibility. Once the relationship goes bad, remove them from your social media. If you choose not to, don’t be shocked if you see your pictures on some random image board.
Don’t Sext/Bootycall
This is not the same as texting. We all have needs; sometimes those needs become more prevalent when we drink. Don’t fall into the slippery slope of sexting and sending pictures, this is a big no-no. Don’t drunk call after a depressing night at the bar drowning your sulks in scotch. There’s a good chance that the call would end up being awkward and embarrassing. Your ex will feel so good that you’re miserable without them and that they have you at their whim and mercy on the phone. When you go out drinking and you feel like calling, give your phone away or take out the battery and keep it in a separate pocket.
Don’t continue doing activities you used to do
No hay mas amor. Se llama Obsesion. So get over listening to love songs that you used to share with your ex. Change the station when Bruno Mars, Beyonce, and Miguel come on. You can’t get over your ex if you keep listening to songs you used to dance to, visiting restaurants you ate at, and doing activities that you used to do. Now you just do those activities alone. They say our senses are our best triggers for memories; avoid places that makes you feel, hear, see, smell, and taste things that reminds you of them.
