As the semester comes to a close, I know I have to thank you for the support, and the boost you provided when I needed it most. You never complained, not even once.
I woke up to meet you in the kitchen. I looked forward to your taste on my lips before heading out the door. My days were better when they started with you. There were days I had to start classes without our morning encounter, and those were the days I’d sneak away mid-session and meet you in the café. You never turned me down.
I never would have made it without you, my classes were fueled by you. I would drive to class with you and know that I’d survive, even after the longest days. When the temperature dropped and when my classes weren’t warm enough, there you were.
There were nights when I couldn’t sleep because of finals, papers, projects, and last minute assignments; you were there at the table with me, keeping me up. I owe so many great papers to you.
There were mornings after too much fun when I’d drag myself from my home to class, stopping along the way to pick you up. You were the passenger that wordlessly provided me with clarity and eased my headaches.
I can recognize your scent from a block away and it’s comforting. Some nights you were tall, dark and mysterious. Other days you were short, light and sweet.
When money was tight, I knew I could count on you. It’s amazing what $2.89 of you can do for an appetite when there is still a full evening of classes to attend. Coffee, you really are a student’s best friend. Thank you.
