ED. Note: In the very first issue of The Gothic Times 2014 Spring Semester we published an article, “Interview with a Psychic” which received mixed reviews and here is one of them:
I am currently a senior at NJCU, majoring in Psychology. I read Sandy Asto’s article on her take about Psychics. It seems pleasant yet what about the opposite? My tale is the opposite effect with Asto’s article. You think this reply sounds crazy; however, this story can affect anyone.
Two to three years ago, before transferring to New Jersey City University, I was in a different college in a different state with a scholarship. I was very cheery, lively, and naive. At a point, I had some disagreement / fight with people living the state that I was attending previously.
I was vulnerable, and one day, I decided to go to a Psychic. This Psychic said her name was “Grace.” I wish I only visited her only once, and that was it; however, I kept going to see her because at that time, I felt sad that my family was not happy, and I wanted to do something about it. The only family member that does not know this is my mom. I thought going to a psychic would solve my family’s sadness; again, I was in a state of desperation.
On my first few visits, she said that I would lose many of my previous college people, the guy I previously dated was not “the one,” I have bad vibes, and a man was standing in my dreams. Throughout visiting her, I had to do these tasks such as get her gift cards, purchase everyday items, and money. In return, she did these mini performances such as a snake from an orange or to bless salt for me to take a bath in. Overall, I spent too much money and time on her, and it was time for me to stop. I realized that I was being taken advantage of.
After not seeing her, my life was turned upside down; I was filled with guilt, shame, anger and sadness, mentally. What I did was the biggest mistake of my life. All I wanted was happiness to happen to my family; seeing a psychic did not solve that issue.
What everyone should realize is that some “psychics” can take an advantage of you if you are vulnerable and weak mentally. People should also note that if some of these “psychics” are real, then it should not come with a price. Also, if you see a “VIDEO CAMERAS OR DEVICES ARE PROHIBITED” sign or something similar to it, then do not go in.
If psychic tells you something in the future, you have the option to change it; it is not set in stone because it is up to you about what you want to do with it. Although sometimes, you cannot change fate, you can change the little things in your life.
