NJCU Women’s Soccer Start their Season Off with a Win and Loss

NJCU Women’s Soccer team kicked off their season with a loss to FDU – Florham on August 31 and a win against The City College of New York on September 2.
In the season opener against FDU, the team suffered their first loss. However, NJCU collected three saves and three shots on goal. The team was unable to prevent two goals in the first and five goals in the second made by FDU. The women were blanked 7-0.
When NJCU faced The City College of New York, the team collected five saves and eight shots on goal. Seven minutes into the first period, Mallensy Vargas scored the first goal with a chip over FDU’s goalkeeper. Vargas fired two more goals when she returned in the second. With less than 10 minutes left, Karen Tuesta unleashed two goals towards the end of the game. The women won 5-2 in their second game of the season.
