It is nice to know that New Jersey City University offers the Dream Act to prospective students. On December 20, Chris Christie signed Senate Bill 2479, also known as the New Jersey Dream Act. On January 7, he signed the reproduction of the bill in Union City. According to NJ.com, Governor Christie urged the children of immigrants to take advantage of this given opportunity.
“You’re an inspiration to us because in you we see all that our country can be,” said Christie in the American flag-draped gym at Colin Powell Elementary School in Union City. “In you we see, most importantly, infinite possibilities of the human spirit.”
Now many undocumented students will be able to go to college and not have to pay out-of-state- tuition. The cost of higher education plays a huge factor on whether or not illegal immigrants go to college.
I know NJCU will agree when I say I believe everyone deserves a chance at his or her dreams, liberty, and goals.
If you are undocumented or know someone who is who wishes to apply for in-state tuition, then log on to NJCU and search Dream Act to download fill out the application and affidavit form. (A link to the form is also available on gothictimes. net.)
