Do you ever wonder where to find free concerts or free music on campus? Have a long break in between classes and can’t pass the time quick enough? Music@1 is there for you.
What is the Music@1 series? Many students outside of the MDT (music, dance, and theatre) department do not know what this is. These are concerts from musicians around the world who show us a different style of music we aren’t really used to. There have been musicians from Turkey, USA, many Spanish countries, and others.
These concerts come around at least once a month. They are always on Wednesdays at 1:00 pm. So clear your schedules. It’s free and it happens right at the Ingalls Recital Hall in Rossey Hall, Room 101.
SGO or Campus Life sometime request musicians from different cultures to perform live on our campus. For example we’ve previously had a great band from Barbados called Phillip 7. SGO and Campus Life love to showcase student talent so they may have an open mic event which then becomes a concert within itself. Watch your friends or roommate sing, rap, play an instrument or even recite some poetry.
It’s not easy to get up on stage. Personally, I know being a musician myself. But I am daring you to get out of your room basement, shower, or house and sing your heart out.
Don’t be afraid.
