#NJCUBB Suffers Loss Against Moravian and Salisbury

NJCU Baseball lost to Moravian College on March 15. In a close game, the Gothic Knights were unable to clinch a run in the ninth inning. The Gothic Knights picked up six errors in total. Dan Berardi, Bill Feehan, Mike Ramirez, and Lenin Gomez were game leaders in hitting while Jose Ortiz and Kyle Kafer were game leaders in pitching. By the top of the third, the Gothic Knights had a one-point lead when Mike Albunia scored. Feehan, Gomez, Tom Pulcine, Juan Pena, Albunia, and Jan Castellano collected a run (R). The same players including Nick LoGatto, Berardi, and Ramirez received a hit (H). In the top of fifth, Feehan was at the plate and received an RBI which allowed for Pena to score and for everyone else to advance to the next base. Pena homered in the seventh inning allowing for Pulcine and Gomez to score tying the game at 8-8. LoGatto collected a single in the ninth inning, he went on to steal second base and advance to third, but the game was called before he could reach home plate. Moravian scored another point which put them in the lead and they won the game 9-8.
In a non-conference makeup, NJCU suffered a loss to Salisbury University on March 17. This game was the Gothic Knights’ third loss of the season 5-3 (win-loss). Salisbury had zero errors while NJCU had four errors in total. The game went into an extra-inning. Dan Berardi, Tom Pulcine, Juan Pena, and Mike Ramirez were game leaders in batting while Sean Gibney, Ramirez, Kyle Kafer, and Anthony Carfora were game leaders in pitching. By the seventh inning, Pena doubled which allowed for Pulcine to score and Jan Castellano hit to centerfield which allowed for Nick LoGatto to score. The top of the ninth, the Gothic Knights collected their first points of the game when LoGatto doubled which allowed for Mike O’Donnell, Lenin Gomez, and Berardi to score. After the ninth, NJCU maintained a tie at 6-6 until Salisbury scored in the eleventh and won the game 7-6.
