#NJCUBB Receive a Win and Loss in NJAC Opener

NJCU Baseball challenged Kean University twice on March 31 for the opening weekend of the 2018 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC).

In game one, the Gothic Knights collected seven runs, nine hits, and one error in total. Tom Pulcine, Dan Berardi, Lenin Gomez, and Jesse Kraft were game leaders in hitting while Kyle Kafer, Jose Ortiz, and Mike Ramirez were game leaders in pitching. Kafer was winning pitcher of game one. He earned three strikeouts (SO), eight groundouts (GO), and five earned runs (ER). Both Ramirez and Berardi collected two RBIs while Berardi, Pulcine, Gomez, and Kraft collected two hits. Juan Pena earned two walks (BB). Kraft entered the fourth inning on a fielding error which allowed for Gomez to score. In the fifth, Ramirez was out at first base which allowed for Pulcine to score. The Gothic Knights gathered five runs in the sixth. Kraft doubled to left field which allowed for Pena to score and Nick LoGatto walked which permitted Kraft to score. Ramirez also walked which permitted Mike McLaughlin to score and Berardi singled which allowed for Jan Castellano to score. The Gothic Knights won game one 7-5.

In game two, the Gothic Knights earned eight runs, 11 hits, and three errors in total. Nick LoGatto, Dan Berardi, Juan Pena, and Tom Pulcine were game leaders in hitting while Mike Ramirez and Anthony Carfora were game leaders in pitching. Lenin Gomez homered in the fourth and earned two runs which allowed for LoGatto to score. Pena singled which permitted Berardi to score. In the sixth, Mike Corsi singled and Pena scored. With a tie in the ninth, the Gothic Knights attempted, but were unable to collect any runs by the end of the tenth. The Gothic Knights lost game two 8-11.
