#NJCUSB Scoreless in Doubleheader Against Rampo

NJCU Softball took on Ramapo in a doubleheader on April 8. The team is currently 4-14 for the overall season and 0-4 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC).

In Game 1, the Gothic Knights earned zero runs, two hits and one error.

Christina Mezey pitched in all seven innings and threw a total of 95 pitches. She collected four earned runs, two walks, eight groundouts and one strikeout.

In the bottom of the fourth, Hannah Gavin singled to left field and later advanced to second when Dayanara Flores singled. Both players received one hit. There were only two players left on base by the of end of the inning. The Gothic Knights loss game one 0-5.

In Game 2, the Gothic Knights returned in hopes to redeem their selves after a loss in game one. The team collected zero runs, four hits and zero errors.

Christina Mezey pitched in all six innings and threw a total of 113 pitches. She seven earned runs, five walks, three strikeouts and eight groundouts.

Gianna Benacquista, Dayanara Flores, Juliana Squeo, Arianna Scrimo earned a hit. There were a few more baserunners in game two with the anticipation to reach home plate. In the bottom of the first, Juliana Squeo reached on a fielder’s choice to shortstop. In the third, Hannah Gavin also reached on a fielder’s choice. Mezey grounded out in the bottom of the fourth and Squeo advanced to second base. The Gothic Knights were unable to bring home a run and loss game two 0-8.
