New Jersey City University proudly presents Nova Altum, the 2018 BFA Thesis exhibition at Harborside Atrium in Jersey City, from April 8 to April 26. On April 13 and 20, 2-4 p.m., 11 students will provide short artist talks each day.

The exhibition features artwork by 22 senior art majors who have created visual projects as a final thesis. Highlights of the wide-ranging work will include: the large paintings of Maria Lupianez which concern with how to raise emotionally sensitive boys in the era of the MeToo era; the paintings of Daniel Ruiz which deal with the relationship of violence and masculinity; the monumental dress sculpture of Nicole Jusino; and a traditional hand-drawn animation by Morgan Buckey. Design projects will also showcase the broad scope of the field — from engaging product displays, to examinations of skateboarding subculture, digital painting and challenging the notions of women in gaming.

Following last year’s BFA thesis exhibition which took place at Kearny Point, this exhibition at Harborside demonstrates NJCU’s commitment to providing students with the early public exposure and the kind of professional experience that leads to long term success in the Arts.

This year’s BFA Thesis exhibition is made possible through the generous support of Harborside JC, and is presented in partnership with Mayor Steven M. Fulop, the Jersey City Municipal Council and the Office of Cultural Affairs.

Harborside Atrium is part of the Harborside Financial Center, which is easily accessible from Exchange Place Station of PATH train and Harborside Financial Center Station of Hudson-Bergen Lightrail.
