NJCU takes back the (k)night
April 15, 2019
The Speicher-Rubin Women’s Center, Counseling Center, Housing and Residence Life and Peers Educating Peers, among other local organizations, sponsored “Take Back the (K)Night,” an event meant to shine a light on sexual assault and human trafficking. Taking place late on April 10th, from 6-9 p.m., the event was distinctly divided into three main sections: a rally in GSUB 129 consisting of local community leaders sharing information and resources available to survivors, a march around half a block of the main campus and a survivor speak-out for those in the event to share their stories. Speakers at the rally portion of the event included Assemblywoman Angela McKnight, people from Women Rising, Hudson SPEAKS, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, CWA Local 1031 and more from previously mentioned groups. Out of respect, no photos from the survivor speak-out section of the event were taken without permission of the speakers.
