NJCU Baseball challenged St. Joseph’s College (Brooklyn) on April 18. The Gothic Knights were victorious and had a stunning 16-0 shutout. The team collected 16 runs, 20 hits and zero errors.

Winning pitcher Nate Facey pitched for seven innings and faced a total of 22 batters. He collected five walks, eight strikeouts, four groundouts and zero earned runs.

Bill Feehan singled to center field in the first and allowed Tom Pulcine to advance to second. The single made by Feehan also allowed for Juan Pena and Nick LoGatto to score.

Feehan returned in the third and smashed a homer to right field which allowed himself and Dan Berardi to score.

The team garnered three runs in the fourth. Berardi earned a walk and Mike Ramirez scored. Pulcine rapped a fly ball to right field which allowed LoGatto to score. Matt Corsi singled to right field and Pena scored. There were three players left on base by the end of the inning.

The Gothic Knights unleashed six impressive runs in the fifth. The assist from Pena’s double allowed LoGatto, Ramirez and Jesse Kraft to score. Pulcine singled to third base and later advanced to second on a throwing error by third base. Berardi advanced to second and then to third on the error. Pena was able to advance as well and score. Corsi singled to right field and Berardi scored. Mike Albunia singled to second base which permitted Pulcine to score.

By the sixth, fresh faces replaced some of the starters in the hitting lineup and fielding positions. Mike O’Donnell, Corsi, John Maino, Dan McLaughlin, Mike McLaughlin and Ryan Guthrie made an appearance while Kraft and Brandon Kuhl were given the opportunity to pitch.

Corsi returned in the sixth to single to left field and allowed O’Donnell to score. Mike Albunia singled through the right side which permitted Miano scored.

In the seventh, Maino lined out to center field and Sean Gibney cashed in the final run of the game. The Gothic Knights won 16-0.
