NJCU Women’s Soccer Scoreless in the Season Opener for NJAC

NJCU Women’s Soccer challenged Ramapo College on September 15 for the season opener for the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC). Along with the season opener, it was also Alumni day where former Gothic Knights were honored.

The game was full of intensity and pressure for both teams. The Gothic Knights held on strong in both periods however they were unable to secure a goal and Ramapo won 2-0. NJCU is now 3-3 for their overall season. Although the team was scoreless, they earned 12 saves thanks to Cidney Lee-Sam. They produced 17 shots and managed to get four shots on goal. Mallensy Vargas was the only player to notch 10 shots while Daniela Betancourt, Katherin Merino and Rosa Bonilla collected 2 shots each of their own. Ramapo scored within the last 6 minutes of the first period and another in the 66 minute of the second period.
