In a time when cyber space is king things are sold or traded online every day. Millions of people surf the web for sales on just about anything. What about your virginity? Is that for sale? For one California college graduate it is. For Natalie Dylan, a made up name for the 22 year old, is selling her virginity to the highest bidder and the auction has reportedly reached 3.7 million dollars.
You might be wondering how it is that she has not been arrested for prostitution. Well that is another issue. Where Dylan is posting the auction from, a brothel called the Moonlite Bunny Ranch, is located in Nevada where prostitution is legal. Dylan says that the reason for the auction is to finance graduate studies for both her and her sister.
“I wouldn’t do it,” said Jazmine Figueroa, 21, psychology and education major from Newark New Jersey “it’s because of my morals. Plus, you don’t know who the person is.”
Though the posting is online and subject to federal laws the Federal Bureau of Investigation is staying away from this deal and leaving it for the local authorities.
“Being that prostitution is legal in the area that she’s listing from, and she’s over 18 and it’s consensual, I would defer it to local police authorities,” said David Staretz, a spokesman for the FBI’s Las Vegas field office, told FOX News.
“I wouldn’t [sell my virginity] because you don’t know who is seeing it, it’s public,” said Faith Ann Ely 18, Criminal Justice major from Hackettstown. “I feel it’s degrading towards women, I mean if young girls see this they might just want the money. It takes away the preciousness of it. Plus you just never know who is really behind the money.”
