There’s this debate between the infamous Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith, the outrageous debaters on “First Take,” whether Tim Tebow is a good, decent quarterback.
But before anyone decides if Tim Tebow is a good quarterback we should first define what a good quarterback is. Is a good quarterback someone who can stuff the stat sheet and put up big yards in a game like Cam Newton and yet can’t lead his team to a .500 record?
Or is a good quarterback someone who can lead his team to wins and a division title even though he is a mediocre level quarterback a la Tim Tebow? Does a good quarterback have to be a superstar to be considered a good quarterback or just a quarterback who can lead his teams to comebacks in the fourth quarter, to wins, to the playoffs, and to a playoff win.
I just named everything Tim Tebow accomplished last season, not a lot of quarterbacks can say they did all of that. I mean someone who can do all of that is a good quarterback in my dictionary. The super bowl champions just won with a quarterback who isn’t really considered a superstar around the league but a good quarterback. Does a quarterback have to be considered the or even be the MVP just to be recognized as a good quarterback? I really don’t think so.
The issue that Stephen A. Smith brings up is that Tim Tebow can’t play the quarterback position by saying he can’t throw, that Tim Tebow does not have the skill to be an NFL quarterback, this and that.
You know something? He’s actually right, Tim Tebow can’t throw, at least not in the first three quarters. Tim Tebow is not an NFL quarterback, at least not the old original NFL quarterback, he’s a newly reinvented NFL quarterback. Tim Tebow and Cam Newton are going to revolutionize the quarterback position and Robert Griffin III is going to be a part of the group, too.
Tebow’s athleticism of running the ball as a quarterback is the reason why the Jets brought him in. Tim Tebow had 660 yards and six touchdowns rushing last season. That’s better than MVP running back and former Jet LaDanian Tomlinson’s 285 yards and one touchdown , considering all the criticism he’s been receiving
They will probably use Tim Tebow in some running aspect in the game, I don’t think they’re going to use the wildcat because the wildcat, in my opinion, has outlasted its use in the league. Long story short, Stephen A. Smith doesn’t like the idea of Tim Tebow getting all of this recognition as a below average quarterback.
Tim Tebow is a natural leader, once he set foot on that football field to take over a losing franchise in the Denver Broncos he turned it around in a matter of weeks. He took a team that lost so much confidence in their quarterback, themselves, and the franchise and he just took the keys and sparked the team to success.
The Broncos became one of the most exciting teams to watch in the NFL. But I would like to think that Tim Tebow got most of this recognition due to the fact that Skip Bayless can not SHUT UP about him. I also think that some of Tim Tebow’s confidence is due to Skip Bayless and the Bronco fan’s call for Tebow.
If you are a fan of the show you would know that Skip Bayless would love this argument and Stephen A. Smith would disregard all of it and think it’s all nonsense before yelling at Skip for no reason.
