#NJCUBB Suffer Defeat in NJAC Doubleheader

NJCU Baseball challenged The College of New Jersey on April 21 for a New Jersey Athletic Conference doubleheader. The team is currently 17-14 for the overall season and 5-8 in the NJAC.

In Game 1, the team collected six runs, 10 hits and one error. The Gothic Knights scored their first two runs back to back in the bottom of the fourth inning. Juan Pena garnered a double to left center which allowed Nick LoGatto to score. Dan Berardi was up next and singled through the left side which allowed Pena to score.

In the fifth, Pena returned with a single through the left side and Jan Castellano scored.

In the seventh, LoGatto fired a single to right field which allowed Castellano to score his second run of the game. Pena singled to center field and Bill Feehan scored.

Jesse Kraft grounded out to the pitcher in the eighth and Tom Pulcine scored. The Gothic Knights loss 6-7 in game one.

Kyle Kafer lasted two-thirds of an inning and threw a total of 13 pitches. He collected one earned run, zero walks, zero strikeouts and one groundouts.

In Game 2, the team collected zero runs, four hits and four errors. TCNJ scored an impressive seven runs by the end of the game. The Gothic Knights were unable to cash in a run and faced a 7-0 shutout in game two. However, the team had at least one baserunner in both the ninth and fourth.

Anthony Zicaro threw of a total of 114 pitches and was in for six innings. He collected four earned runs, three walks, two strikeouts and seven groundouts.
