NJCU Baseball challenged Ursinus College on May 1 for their final away game of the 2017-18 season. The Gothic Knight successfully broke a school record as the team reached 20 wins for the overall season. There is a chance now that the team will be eligible to qualify for the Eastern College Atlantic Conference Division III Tournament. The Gothic Knights collected 11 runs, 16 hits and four errors.

Mike Ramirez pitched 1 2/3 innings and threw a total of 30 pitches. He collected three hits, zero runs, two walks and one strikeout.

The defensive players Jan Castellano, Ramirez, Jesse Kraft, Juan Pena had some remarkable moments as game leaders in fielding while Tom Pulcine, Ramirez, Dan Berardi and Kraft provided impressive runs as game leaders in hitting.

At the top of the fourth, Kraft hit a single to shortstop which brought in a run by Ramirez.

The Gothic Knights smashed six runs at the top of the sixth. Mike Albunia hit a single through the left side which brought in two runs by Kraft and Ramirez. The double produced by Berardi in the middle dished out three runs made by Pena, Pulcine and Albunia. Following suit, Bill Feehan also doubled which allowed Berardi to score. The team garnered a three-point lead until the top of the seventh.

In the seventh, Pulcine was next in the starting lineup and ripped an incredible three-run homer down the right field which allowed himself, Albunia and Castellano to score.

The nail in the coffin for Ursinus happened in the ninth when Berardi crushed a fly ball out to right field and Pulcine scored the final run of the game. The Gothic Knights won 11-9.

The team will attempt to schedule in a home game after Senior Day was cancelled on April 29 due to rainy conditions.
